Fertility will usually start to decline in your 30’s. Factors that may contribute to infertility include age, smoking, stress, certain medical issues, obesity, alcohol and drug use. With that said, what are some of the more clear signs that you are in fact fertile and ready to get pregnant? Here are 4 signs that signal peak fertility: Your period should be very predictable One good indicator for fertility is when your cycle is quite predictable every month. That signals fertility. I’m not talking about birth control cycles but natural cycles without any medical intervention. Though the length and regularity of a menstrual cycle may differ, the average duration of a complete menstrual cycle is 28 days (though healthy cycles can run from 21-36 days). Cycles longer than 28 days don’t necessarily mean anything is wrong with you. Your ovulation day will be about half your cycle length. This is another true indicator for fertility.

Here are 4 signs that signal peak fertility:

Your period should be very predictable

One good indicator for fertility is when your cycle is quite predictable every month. That signals fertility. I’m not talking about birth control cycles but natural cycles without any medical intervention.

Your ovulation day will be about half your cycle length.

This is another true indicator for fertility. If your cycle averages 30 days then you should ovulate around cycle day 15. A positive sign on your ovulation predictor kit signals that you should expect to ovulate within the next 36 hours.

A late ovulation means that the current uterine lining starts to be a bit too old, which means it would be harder for a fertilized egg to attach, although it doesn’t harm the baby if you do get pregnant after all.

You will have a very fertile cervical mucus

Cervical mucus or cervical fluid is one of the primary fertility signs to getting pregnant. A dry cervical mucus can resist the movement of sperm and inhibit fertilization.

Directly prior to ovulation, your cervical mucus should be abundant. The stretchiness of the mucus indicates that ovulation is likely imminent.

Cervical mucus or cervical fluid is one of the three primary fertility signs to getting pregnant. A dry cervical mucus can resist the movement of sperm and inhibit fertilization.

Fertile mucus will be thin, slippery (like lubricant), stretchy and translucent. Typically, fertile-quality cervical fluids will appear a few days prior to and during ovulation.

You will experience a real increase in libido

Fertile women, right before ovulation, will experience a rise in sexual desire as estrogen and testosterone levels increase. Your body will also change during this period. Fuller lips, a high pitched voice and a change in facial structure also signal increased fertility.

Having sex at the right time is essential to getting pregnant. It is important to have sex just prior to and at ovulation time, but what if you ovulate late? Like after day 16? Then you may find it difficult to maintain a pregnancy even if you are lucky enough to conceive. Some cycles are a recipe for disaster, and even if you do manage to conceive, they will likely result in a miscarriage. Cycles with an ovulation time after day 16 is one of them. Why? Because the uterine lining is no longer optimal for nourishing a fetus. If you find that you regularly ovulate after day 16, be sure to tell your doctor! Now, it is important to understand that once you’ve ovulated, you have just about a 12 hour period of time to conceive. That’s because the lifespan of an egg, once it has ovulated, is only about 24 hours so if that egg is not fertilized within the first 12 hours after ovulation, conception is likely not going to happen. That is why it’s important to have sex before ovulation, if possible. A study has found that among healthy women trying to conceive, nearly all pregnancies […]

Some cycles are a recipe for disaster, and even if you do manage to conceive, they will likely result in a miscarriage.

Cycles with an ovulation time after day 16 is one of them. Why? Because the uterine lining is no longer optimal for nourishing a fetus.

That is why it’s important to have sex before ovulation, if possible.

A study has found that among healthy women trying to conceive, nearly all pregnancies can be attributed to intercourse during a six-day period ending on the day of ovulation.

Obviously, frequent ejaculations reduce sperm count, sperm concentration, and the percentage of sperm that are motile.

So frequent ejaculation could potentially reduce the potency of subsequent batches of sperm.

Too much sex can theoretically decrease sperm count, which can then take a few days to rebound.

So probably the best and optimal approach would be to have sex every other day, instead of every day, during your fertile window.

Many women who cannot get pregnant or who may experience repeated miscarriage often suffer from a luteal phase defect, which simply means that the luteal phase of their cycle (the time between ovulation and their menstrual flow) is too short to develop a thick enough uterine lining to support a fertilized egg. This can either result in an inability for the fertilized egg to implant in the first place, or an inability to thrive, thus resulting in a very early miscarriage. Some women actually miscarry every month without realizing it believing that they are simply having a regular period. The cause of this disorder is generally low progesterone levels, although low FSH and LH levels can also be to blame. Some signs that you may suffer with a luteal phase defect include: 1. Ovulating before day 10 of your cycle or after day 20 (this can be determined by using an ovulation predictor test or charting your basal body temperature and cervical mucus). 2. Pre-menstrual spotting. 3. Menopausal symptoms. Once a diagnosis of LPD is made, there are several options for treatment. In many cases fertility drugs such as Clomid are used to boost progesterone levels and make a pregnancy […]

Prolactin is a hormone that helps women to produce milk after the birth of a baby. When levels are high, ovulation is hindered; that is why many nursing mothers do not get a period while their babies are nursing at peak capacity. Reducing estrogen levels in women and progesterone levels in men, prolactin can have a serious effect on both male and female fertility, causing a loss of ovulation in the female and a poor production of sperm in males. When it comes to dealing with nay fertility problem, it is important to take as much control over your treatment as possible. Some simple ways that you can help to alleviate elevated prolactin levels include: 1. Add lots of B vitamins and zinc to your daily diet. 2. Avoid alcohol (no amount is safe). 3. Begin a stress relieving regiment including exercise, massage, hypnosis, meditation, yoga, etc. 4. Take a Chasteberry Vitex supplement to lower prolactin levels. 5. Take qi moving herbs. 6. Avoid excessive exercise (but moderate exercise is good). Need guidance on how to improve your fertility? Check out my Pregnancy Miracle program

Eating the right kind of foods and reducing stress can obviously have a huge impact on sperm quality and production. But did you know for example that stress during lovemaking can result in much less sperm in the semen upon ejaculation? It is important to abstain from sex for about 2-3 days before you start having intercourse during your “fertile window”. However, boosting sperm count is possible if practicing an ancient Tantric Yoga Method during this abstinence period. During these 2-3 day period of abstinence, engage in extended and stimulating foreplay without ejaculating. When the urge to have an orgasm becomes too strong, sexual contact is stopped till the penis becomes flaccid again. When no longer showing signs of being aroused, start engaging in the extended foreplay again and repeat the process. This stimulation plus the gaining and losing of the erection over time, can basically boost sperm count and quality as well. If your partner cannot control ejaculation, and does ejaculate during this process, then the benefits of his entire abstinence have been interrupted. Need guidance on how to improve your fertility? Check out my Pregnancy Miracle program

Cervical mucus is one of them but most women turn to ovulation predictor kits. Exactly how good are they? With at home ovulation predictor kits, women can determine whether or not they are in their fertile time of the month. These kits measure LH hormone levels which generally surge right before a woman is ready to release an egg into the Fallopian tubes. These kits can accurately predict the best times for conception in advance of the release of the egg, allowing you to prepare properly by timing intercourse. The ovulation kits can actually predict ovulation up to 36 hours in advance thus increasing your chances of becoming pregnant. Remember to test around the same time everyday, it’s usually best between 2 – 4pm, although any time between noon and 8pm in the evening should be fine. Don’t test as you wake up with first morning urine because the LH surge takes hours to show up. Drinking too much water before testing can dilute your urine so avoid that. I would recommend testing twice a day, about 12 hours apart, late morning, and […]

There are certain principals that I found to be absolutely critical in regards to boosting fertility and increasing your chances of getting pregnant. Of course you don’t have to follow or implement them all but try to commit to at least 4 of these principals and this will increase your chances of conceiving. Here are my 8 commandments for boosting fertility: Commandment # 1: Get plenty of rest. Make a decision to go to bed early and get up later. Your body needs at least 8 hours of good quality sleep in order to be able to withstand the rigors of a pregnancy. Commandment # 2: Stop eating Junk food. Now is not the time to fill your body with a lot of sugar, additives and preservatives. Give your body the nutrients it needs to do the job you have in store for it. Fill up on plenty of fresh foods including vegetables and whole grains. Commandment # 3: Exercise regularly. If only to walk around the block at lunchtime, be sure to get some sort of physical exercise each and every day. Commandment # 4: Stop Smoking. It’s horrible for you – and worse for a growing fetus! Commandment […]

Post-Ovulation, can either be a time of rest for your body (if you are not pregnant) or a time of work (if you are pregnant). Your body has to be ready for either scenario, and this requires taking extra precautions in all areas of your life to ensure that if conception has occurred, you are giving that embryo every chance to implant and survive. To ensure that your body is creating the proper environment for a pregnancy make sure you avoid the following: 1. With regards to air travel, there are a lot of things that can disrupt your energy Qi: the stress of traveling, the air pressure changes and more. At a time when you need to keep your internal weather calm, flying can cause some real turbulence to your fertility energies. 2. Bumpy trains, buses or car rides can be stressful emotionally, but they can also be stressful physically, putting undo (and maybe even dangerous) pressure on the reproductive organs and/or pelvic region. 3. Shoulder rubs may feel great, but they are often associated with abdominal excitement and can activate acupuncture points that induce muscle contractions in the abdomen and uterus.
To ensure that your body is creating the proper environment for a pregnancy make sure you avoid the following:

As a matter of fact, shoulder rubs are one of the main things a Chinese midwife will try to induce labor.

4. Avoid anyone or anything that you might find emotionally upsetting as this can disrupt your ability to both conceive and to aid the implantation of a fertilized embryo. Remember, anything that effects your body’s internal Qi will affect your fertility.

5. If there is one thing that you do not want to do when you are trying to get pregnant is to increase your body heat. Hot baths and saunas do just that.

While they may feel relaxing externally, internally hot baths will raise your internal temperature, thus disrupting your internal Qi.

6. Aromatherapy can be a strong form of treatment for certain disorders.

Fertility, however, often responds negatively to strong pungent odors from bath oils, incense, essential oils and even candles. These types of scented products can dramatically affect the way the blood and Qi energy flow through the body, which may inhibit pregnancy in some women.

7. While it may be used to ease morning sickness, ginger and ginger products can actually disperse energy within the body, causing improper blood flow which can prevent a pregnancy from either occurring or thriving.

The post Avoid These Activities 24 Hours Prior to Ovulation and Until Your Period Begins first appeared on Lisa Olson's Fertility Blog.

American couples spend more than $2 billion a year on fertility treatments, according to recent reports. Yet, more than half of them still fail to conceive. With dozens of high-tech procedures at our disposal, you’d think that anyone – and everyone – who wanted to get pregnant could – and would. Still, many do not. Why? More often than not it is because modern medical practitioners fail to do what Eastern practitioners do: look for the most subtle things which could impede conception that have little or nothing to do with a health problem. True, IVF or other such medical procedures can help fertilize an egg via a Petrie dish and bypass any blockages within the woman’s reproductive system, but if her emotions and inner energies are not considered (and treated), implantation will not – and often cannot – occur. The biggest problem with western medicine, according to those who prescribe to a more Eastern worldview, is their need to find and “fix” a conception problem with a pill or a procedure instead of finding ways to help the body heal itself more naturally. Here’s an example: let’s say your thyroid is not producing the proper amounts of the hormone […]

Here’s an example: let’s say your thyroid is not producing the proper amounts of the hormone needed for pregnancy, western medicine dictates prescribing a synthetic hormone to fix the imbalance.

Eastern medicine though looks for reasons why the thyroid isn’t working properly and then finds a treatment that helps coax the thyroid into making proper amounts of the needed hormone on its own again.

Of course that doesn’t mean that modern technology should never be used to treat infertility; only that it should be used in conjunction with other methods designed to bring the entire body into alignment in order to guarantee success.

For many women a combination of western and eastern treatment methods is the best course of action in helping them conceive.
