Can you get pregnant 1 day after your period?

Your cycle starts on the first day of your period and ends on the first day of your next period.

Getting pregnant immediately after your period is unlikely, but it’s not impossible…

Your are most likely to get pregnant 12 to 14 days before your next period starts.

It’s basically impossible to be 100% sure that having unprotected sex won’t result in pregnancy.

Sometimes ovulation can happen just a couple of days after your period ends. And sperm can potentially fertilize an egg even 3 days after ejaculation.

It all depends on how short or long your menstrual cycle.  In relatively long periods, you may only have a few days left before fertile window begins again.

And having a short cycle, 23 days for example, could make you ovulate just a few days after your period. 

Some women may mistake spotting between periods, for a regular period.

In that scenario, you may not even notice that you’re ovulating and end up having unprotected sex around peak fertility times. Bleeding during ovulation or just prior to can happen when there is a hormonal imbalance.

Some women have an unpredictable or irregular cycle. It can be short this month or long the following month. This is where you must use an ovulation predictor kit.

It’s important to know your cycle and your body. You don’t want to worry about getting pregnant before you’re ready.
