Infertility

Can you feel when an egg has been fertilized or implanted?

I always wondered about whether I could actually feel that ‘sperm meets the egg’ moment.

Most women will not notice when an implantation has occurred but some may experience certain symptoms just a couple of days afterwards.

What happens just before implantation is that the egg is slowly traveling from the ovaries to the Fallopian Tube where it should fertilize a sperm.

The sperm travels from the uterus to the Fallopian tubes through contractions. If they join in the Fallopian tube it is called fertilization.

Then that fertilized egg travels for about 3-4 days to the uterus where it will float for 2-3 more days till hopefully it attaches itself to its lining. That’s when implantation occurs.

Implantation symptoms resemble those of PMS but are usually milder so you may experience light bleeding or spotting as well as dull and aching cramps, known as implantation cramps. But some women won’t feel anything so that doesn’t necessarily mean that you’re not pregnant.
